Nuclear War Realities and Remedies

On the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, rally
to ban the bomb. Free parking at the Swords into Plowshares Peace
Center and Gallery, Detroit Central United Methodist Church.

Doors open at 7:00 pm with the event at 7:30 pm featuring singer/guitatrist
Julie Beutel. Julie has prepared a special program centering anti-nuclear and
peace songs. A native of Detroit, Julie has traveled widely in Europe and
Central America. She has been known to help audiences laugh, cry, and sing
along with her. She will help us rise up to new ways of doing the things that
make for peace.

Rev. Rich Peacock, a Peace Action of MI co-chair, will lead a discussion:
Nuclear War Realities and Remedies.” 80 years ago, the Hiroshima nuclear
bomb was only 15 kilotons, but it killed about 166,000 in four months.
Today’s US. missiles can carry the W-88 nuclear bomb, which is over 30
times more powerful at 475 kilotons.
